Modest Swimwear

If the phrase “modest swimwear” conjures up images of women ensconced in bathing caps and long swim dresses that were equipped with petticoats, you have the wrong picture. The most basic working definition of this phrase refers to any type of bathing suit, generally a one piece, which covers the midriff area of the body.

Fashionable modest swimwear generally incorporates bold patterns and geometric designs. These swimsuits are flattering, not frumpy. They generally include a lining for appropriate coverage and underwire bra cups for extra support. A swimwear line such as Magicsuit also offers bathing suits that have control paneling to shape and firm your body, These swimsuits display the assets you feel comfortable showing, minimizes the waist, and conceals the stomach, which you may feel comfortable showing. In one of these bathing suits, you will never feel dowdy.

You may find it easier to swim while wearing modest swimwear, since you will not have to worry about accidentally exposing yourself. This type of swimwear includes swimsuits that are specifically designed for competition. This type of swimwear is engineered to help you maximize your body’s ability to glide through the water. Efficiency and comfort are its two primary traits. When you feel comfortable, you feel confident, and perform better.

Swimming is supposed to be relaxing and therapeutic, but if you feel uneasy in what you are wearing, you will not be able to enjoy your time at the pool or the beach. Modest swimwear allows you the opportunity to focus on something other than preventing a wardrobe malfunction. It enables you to really participate in swimming and other water-associated activities, such as scuba diving and water-skiing. You take the emphasis off what you are wearing, but you still look confident and stylish.

The easiest way to shop for modest swimwear is do so online. This method saves you both time and money, and enables you to really bargain hunt. Online stores that specialize in modest swimwear will be able to offer you the largest selection of these garments, so you will be able to choose modest swimsuits that best suit your body and make you feel confident to enjoy your swim.

Versatility of Baseball Caps

Since the late 1800s, baseball has been among the most popular sports in America. Dubbed “America’s favorite pastime”, it has become a tradition in many families to go out to see their favorite team several times during the summer months. One of the things that adds to the fun of this popular summer outing is dressing up the family in the local team’s colors, such as wearing their jersey and putting on their hat.

These days, baseball caps are not just worn out at the ballpark, they are also popular for wearing around town. In fact, many baseball fans are so loyal they enjoy putting the cap on wherever they go. This is especially true during the fall when their team is in the playoffs and contending for the World Series. It is fun to go around town sporting their colors and wearing their hat as they cheer the team on to victory.

Aside from showing support for a favorite team, baseball caps have developed many other purposes in recent years. For example, many businesses use these caps as a promotional tool to get the word out about their product. Baseball hat marketing can be very effective, especially if the hat is comfortable and the logo is appealing to a large sector of the public. Typically, the business will hire an ad agency or designate someone in-house to create a design that can blend their logo in with the ideal hat colors to make it “cool” for the public to wear.

If the marketing campaign is successful, many people in the general public will wear the caps frequently. In some cases, they will even pay good money to buy the caps, even though they may not even use their product. An example of one of the more successful companies using baseball cap marketing is Nike, whose caps with nothing but their logo on the front can be seen all over the place. These caps can also be fairly expensive to buy, simply because it has become popular to wear them.

With the rise of the internet, the availability of customized personal baseball hats has grown exponentially. Today, large companies are not the only ones with the ability to design caps. Anyone with an internet connection can now go online to a baseball cap seller and custom design a hat for any purpose. Some examples of these are family reunions, fantasy baseball or football team/league logos, holiday events, etc. Hats are also available for various other themes like favorite movies, TV shows, times of the year, states, cities, the list goes on and on.

Hats can be designed in various colors, shapes, and sizes to fit persons of any age. The baseball caps today are usually made of softer cloth that can be snugly fit around a person’s head. They are created this way for greater comfort and a better look, since these are two of the determining factors in how often a person will be inclined to wear it.

When it comes to buying baseball caps, it is important for a person to do their due diligence and research several manufacturers. Read their websites and be sure they are using the highest grade materials in the production process. It is also useful to look at reviews from other customers to determine if others have had a positive or negative experience with the particular manufacturer under consideration. Once the buyer has found a reputable manufacturer, they can move forward on their purchase with greater confidence that they will receive a cap they will be happy with.

Shopping for Your Bridal Dress

Types of wedding dresses

Though you probably have some idea of what you want your bridal dress to look like, going over the options available is always a good idea. While some will always pick a dress like their mother’s or like royalty, with the traditional long train, thinking has also changed over years with more brides looking for comfort over being dolled up. However, these needn’t be mutually exclusive categories either, and there are many options you can explore.

  • A casual wedding dress allows you to move about and socialize with your guests and even to let your hair down! Usually made of a light and manageable fabric, these are available in light pastels too. These can also be two-piece dresses, allowing you more freedom of movement. Pick the fabric and cut according to the season, setting and of course, sensuousness.
  • Pick a designer dress that everyone will remember for the rest of their lives. After all, it’s not every day that you get married, and if you want to go all out for the big day, why not look like royalty itself! Be it lace, pearls, Swarovski or diamonds that fascinate you, indulge in a pattern and cut that complements you. However, remember that it’s not quantity but placement and taste that matters, so don’t layer and embellish so much you end up looking like your wedding cake.

Getting it right

On average, a bride will go through at least 20 dresses before finding the right one, so be patient. Here are some tips to help you find the perfect dress:

  • Look, look, look, and look again. There is simply no short-circuiting the process, though a good way to do this is by starting early, so you can check out a few options like sales, online portals and bids. You need to have a sense of wedding dresses before you can seriously shop for one, and for this, you need to do your ground work well. Starting with magazine clippings is a good idea too.
  • Never buy a dress online unless you’re absolutely certain of quality and fit. For the same reason, don’t buy it much in advance, because as the wedding day approaches, the festivities heighten, and gaining a few pounds is only natural, unless you’re very particular about hitting the gym.
  • Always carry a swatch of fabric of dresses you have shortlisted. Keep these in your favorite handbag so you always have them handy. The final choice often depends on the perfect match with other accessories, so keep a few options unless its love at first sight for you!
  • Try on your dress with your wedding shoes on. Remember that this is essential, as especially if it is a long dress or one with a train, even a few centimeters can make all the difference. Also carry any special piece of jewelry that you absolutely want to wear on your wedding day, such as that heirloom necklace or your mother’s tiara.

Last but not least, dresses are as good as their wearer. Wear something that allows you to be yourself and makes you happy. Not something you fuss and fidget over. And get your hair and makeup appointments all in advance!

Return Of The Hippie

Who were the Hippies

Hippies were a part of a youth movement, composed of the younger generation and teenagers between the ages of 15 and 25. These youngsters or hippies rebelled and criticized middle-class values, embraced elements of non-Judeo-Christian religions, opposed the Vietnam War, promoted sexual liberation, and created intentional communities, often considering their tribe as a new religious movement. Hippies favored “peace, love, and personal freedom over political and social orthodoxy.

The hippies fashion was embraced by the youth and even seniors across the continents, in the 1960s. The focus of the decade and years later was on the vibrancy of the apparel and accessories and not on what others thought about a particular appearance. People, generally, sported clothes that they felt expressed themselves and their individualism and not for sake of pleasing the regular line of fashion. The empowering rock music and world-wide protests against social stigmas like apartheid churned out the blue jeans and denim. It was the era of casual attire; an age when people felt that drug addiction was okay to experiment with. The hippies, as they were commonly described by the ‘prim and proper’ and socially answerable citizens, designed a whole new lifestyle of their own.

The 1960s’ Hippie Fashion

The 1960s’ hippie fashion comprised apparel that would probably appeal to only the youth of today. The baby boomers, also called the flower children, did not hesitate to flaunt flowers in their hair, much like the customs and sights of the orient. In the west, the hippies also indulged in body painting, body piercing and tattoo body art. Not much of this was ever appreciated by the older generation. The men sported long, loose flowing hair long like the women. The ‘free look’ comprised not focusing on what others thought of their self-expression through apparel, believing in ‘equality for all’ and protesting against social evils. The hippies fashion statement was a rage with the youth. It showed signs of fading out as they grew older. They pretty much lived up to The Days of Our Youth are the Days of Our Glory! Unlike the formal business environment today, way back in the 1960s’, the hippies fashion trends offered clothing for work and leisure a very informal and casual look.

The fashion clothing was a form of counterculture and nonconformist. The personal expressions of people and the times resulted in easily recognizable styles that made a major impact on the contemporary world. The fashion was derived along the ‘anything goes’ line. Hipsters and bell-bottom jeans, ankle fringes, flower patches and peasant blouses were all part of the fray. T-shirts and skimpy halter-neck tops were part of everyday wear. Women wore long skirts and dresses that redefined what was ‘acceptable’. The hemlines were difficult to digest for the conservatives of the era and the micro and mini skirts were a cultural shock. Short skirts were worn with knee-high boots, while the long flowing skirts were considered better matched with sandals. Flowing ribbons in the hair or the dress was nothing unusual. Flowers strongly emphasized the hippie movement. They were used to represent peace and love. Tired of the toll that World War II took on culture and economy, the hippies sported floral patterns on dresses and skirts and jeans. Artificial flower tiaras and real flowers were worn in the hair.

Hippie Hair and Jewelry

During the hippie movement, men and women grew their hair long and avoided fussy styling and hair products as braiding hair was popular, although, contrary to popular belief, they did still shampoo. Usually hair was parted in the middle and bang-less. During this time period, long side burns were the thing for men. Fashion accessories during the time also included bandana’s and other headgear, scarves. Hippies accessorized their hair with flowers or little hair clips or a colorful headband across their forehead. A skinny ribbon tied at in the back of the head with long easy flowing hair became a legendary look throughout the 1960s.

Women’s jewelry was mostly based on nature or from Native American or any similar handmade designs. Any necklace sporting a peace sign with Beads was hugely popular. Jewelry that made music was highly desirable since music was an essential part of the hippie scene. Necklaces that featured bells as pendants and jangly ankle bracelets were a favorite among women. In general, the ankles received a lot of attention, especially amongst those living on the warm west coast, because many hippies preferred to go barefoot.

Coloured Contact Lens

Coloured contacts are worn for a variety of reasons. As a fashions accessory, they are worn to compliment a fancy dress outfit. These usually go down well at Halloween dressing up that vampire suit or witches costume. They are used frequently in the theatre or in movies giving special effects to the local villain or character. Coloured lenses are also just fun to wear out to your nightclub to give a different look. As long as they are looked after properly and kept clean they are safe to wear and will not affect your eyes or vision at all.

Coloured contact lenses work best with people with naturally dark eyes. Depending on what look you are going for you can chose from three different types of lens. The first is enhancement lenses. These just give a gentle tint to your natural colour rather than completely changing it. It is not particularly good on dark eyes as the tint blends in with the true colour almost like trying to put a water colour wash on an oil painting.

If you wish to mask your natural eye then you want to go for an opaque lens. They are made from a thick layer of colour blending several hues like a natural eye. This covers the iris leaving a small area in the centre so you can see through without the lens affecting your vision. These two types of lens can also be used to correct deformities in eyes and come in prescription lens and non-prescription.

The third type of coloured lenses is the fun lens. These come in a variety of designs and colours from subtle to wild. You can get plain fluorescent colours or ones with wild designs from animals, horror or mirrored for example.

The lenses are made using different processes depending on manufacturer. One process used is the gel edged technology. It is very comfortable to wear and durable. A vibrant layer of colour is layered onto the lens and then another layer of lens material is compressed on top. This method adds a deeper texture and with the added dark ring around the colour gives an all round more youthful look to the eye.

Cool With Ladies Clothing

One way to get started filling your wardrobe with ladies clothing is to begin with ladies tops. The chillier season is perfect for neutral and natural colors such as black, white, gray and various shades of brown. You can find long shirts with ornate prints as well as other casual gear such as long sleeve shirts. However, just because the weather takes a cold turn does not mean you will have to put away those sleeveless or short sleeves tops. This is the perfect time to layer your clothing.

For instance, you can look into various ladies tops such as cardigans that can go perfectly over a short-sleeved print top. You may want to get a pleated front top that goes great under a blazer for an important business meeting. There are also beautiful refined tops that can be worn with light jackets that include their own belts. Furthermore, many of these tops are available in soft comfortable materials such as satin and silk. These are not the only options you want to consider when it comes to ladies clothing.

While you are choosing your ladies tops, you want to make sure they are a perfect fit with other articles of ladies clothing such as pants. You may need a nice comfortable pair of business trousers or a fun pair of trendy treggings pants. If you will be wearing boots, you should look for trousers with flared legs that will allow your boots to fit under them. Then again, you can also go with modern ¾ leggings or sporty 7/8 pants.

Skirts are also still an option to match with a fancy top even as the weather gets colder. There are many comfortable and stylish skirts available such as corduroy designs that include pockets. A short wraparound skirt can be a fun choice for a night out. On the other hand, a boiled wool midi skirt can be versatile enough for work or for a social gathering. If you want something a little more fun, you can find ladies clothing such as a skirt with a dip dye effect.

Shop During The Sale

I’ve been guilty of being talked into buying something that wasn’t really ‘me’ or did not represent my style which I’ve later regretted, thanks to the pushy salesperson. Once I set foot through the doors of a shop, I can sense straight away if I am going to fall in love with something or not. It’s instinct. A classic example of my impulse purchases is driving to a shopping centre to get some ‘milk’ but at the back of my mind, I have a hidden agenda.

I end up going home with a pair of shoes, a clutch and a top on sale (minus the milk).

Shops have a subtle way of seducing innocent shoppers to spend more and stay longer. The upbeat or mellow music, the dark lighting, the scent, those wonderful mirrors that can make you look longer and slimmer. Fashion mistakes happen all the time. Wrong purchases are bought everyday. Time and time again I have vowed to stick to a written list which almost always disappears every time I head out. And with so many clearance sales, it’s so easy to be tempted and succumb to the reduced prices.

Here are some shopping tips to ensure you only buy items you need to fill the missing gaps in your wardrobe.

  • Say goodbye: Go through your wardrobe and cull items that you no longer need, want, are out of shape or you haven’t worn in months or years.
  • Shopping List: After de-cluttering your wardrobe, create a list of missing items. This is the most important step, so be honest and don’t skip this (and don’t forget this when shopping).
  • Go for comfort: Wear something comfortable and dress appropriately. You will find you will get treated better.
  • Luxury is sexy: When buying items on sale, go for luxurious textiles like cashmere, which can be very expensive when not on sale.
  • Love your shape: Buy for your body shape and ignore the size on the tag. Remember, if you buy something that is too small, you will end up with the dreaded ‘muffin top’.
  • Stick to classics: Classics will never be out of style. Think leather jackets, dark denim, white shirts and black dresses.
  • Feed yourself: Never shop when you’re hungry. As strange as it may sound shopping on an empty stomach could mean rushing a purchase and not being able to think straight.
